Green Blade - Iron 15-0-0 [+6% Iron (Fe)]

Green Blade A specialty fertilizer for Turf - Liquid iron fertilizer for the prevention or correction of iron deficiency in Turf.
Role of Iron in the Plant
- Required for formation of chlorophyll
- Activator for respiration, photosynthesis and symbiotic nitrogen fixation
- Vital part of oxygen carrying systems
- Tied up in high pH soil
Signs of Iron Deficiency
- Interveinal chlorosis of young foliage (veins remain green) - But in severe cases, leaf is white, totally void of chlorophyll
- Deficiency first appears in young growth
- Deficiency most common in alkaline soils and in soils high in calcium and phosphorus
Causes of Iron Deficiency
- Management practices can also contribute to iron deficiencies. Well aerated soil is needed for plants to take up iron. Excessive irrigation and soil compaction result in poorly aerated soils and reduced iron uptake. High phosphorus levels resulting from excessive fertilization and high levels of bicarbonate in irrigation water also interfere with iron uptake by plants.
- Environmental factors such as temperature, rainfall and light intensity also impact iron uptake and assimilation by plants. Low soil temperatures reduce soil microbial activity which, in turn, reduces iron uptake. Wet soils, or excessively dry soils, and low light intensities also reduce iron uptake.
